Phoenix Lithographing Corporation, a commercial printing company in Northeast Philadelphia, has immediate openings for prepress operators (all shifts). Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Electronic Prepress Operators
(openings for split shift 1st/2nd and straight 2nd shift)
The successful candidate will process, create and troubleshoot files using desktop publishing software.
Required Skills
- Complete working knowledge of Adobe CS5, Pitstop, Quark software.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Preference will be given to an individual with demonstrated talent for retouching and color correction via Photoshop
- Fuji XMF experience a plus
- Good work ethic, ability to work without close supervision, attention to detail a must.
Required Experience
- Previous experience in commercial printing — sheetfed, heatset web and coldset web, digital.
- Previous experience with Rampage trapping system and Metrics imposition software.

Commercial Print Bindery Operators
PHOENIX LITHOGRAPHING CORPORATION, a commercial printing company, has Immediate openings for experienced Bindery Operators at its northeast Philadelphia facility.
This is a full-time position. All shifts are available, including nights. Experience is absolutely required. Must be willing to work some overtime as needed.
The successful candidate will process, create and troubleshoot files using desktop publishing software.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read and understand written instructions including those dealing with dimensions and quantity; ability to apply written instructions to machine set-up; good knowledge of the cutter or folder machine operation and set-up practices; knowledge of the operation and function of other bindery equipment and machinery.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires successful completion of an apprenticeship program or three years of job related experience to be proficient in all phases of the work. Your resume must demonstrate experience in the position for which you are applying or it will not be considered.

Web Press Operators and Foreman/Woman
Phoenix Lithographing Corporation, a commercial printing company in Northeast Philadelphia, has immediate openings for Web Press Operators and Foreman/Woman. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Web Press Operators and Foreman/Woman
- Operate web printing press to print quality production, maintain quality of product, lead and direct press crew, maintain press, and work on other operation duties as directed by the supervisors.
- Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain multi-color web offset presses (heatset and coldset web).
- Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run.
- Ensure that all make-ready tasks are done which are associated with the press such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections and checking for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.
- Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work.
- Ensure that the press is clean, lubricated, and maintained, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required. Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Responsible for overall quality of the printed product including color reproduction, product specifications, imaging quality and postal specifications.
- Responsible for producing a sample-quality product.
- Provide accurate documentation of time, materials, impressions, waste, and run speeds.
- Communicate information effectively with other crews and departments, scheduling, prepress, maintenance.
- Must be able to work full time, with some overtime as needed.
Additional functions of foreman/woman:
- Act as a leader in providing and promoting a safe and injury free work environment.
- Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the press and press crew.
- Monitor other crew members’ progress while performing their duties.
- Coordinate make-ready process by reviewing job information, establishing make-ready plan, and assigning responsibilities to crew members.
- Responsible for maintaining a Preventive Maintenance Program for the press, and notifying the maintenance department of issues with the equipment.
Experience/Knowledge:
- 10 years web press printing experience.
- Knowledge of in-line finishing, die cutting, inserters, imagers, color and register.
- Requires comprehensive knowledge of equipment and safety requirements to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain equipment.
- Experience on the Sunday press, G-14 and V-30 a plus.

- Skill in a wide-variety of complex manipulations and mechanical procedures to perform a variety of tasks to set-up, make major adjustments, and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment.
- The ability to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully.
- Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.
Physical Demands:
- Continuous standing/walking – 8 hrs or more.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching.
- Occasional lifting and pushing/pulling – 50 lbs. or less.
- Occasional repetitive motion with both hands.
- Cannot be colorblind.

Direct Mail (Lettershop) Inserter Operator and Inkjet Operator
PHOENIX LITHOGRAPHING CORPORATION has immediate openings at its Northeast Philadelphia facility for an experienced DIRECT MAIL (LETTERSHOP) INSERTER OPERATOR AND INKJET OPERATOR.
We are looking for a team player for our award-winning Mailing division. Our operation is expanding, and we need quality people to grow with us and to operate our new, top-of-the-line equipment.
JOB SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will operate inserter and inkjet machine following standard operating procedures and specific job orders while achieving quality and production standards.
This opening is for first shift, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with some overtime as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- strong mechanical skills
- Inkjet setup and maintenance experience (MCS/DPI, etc.)
- Inserter experience (Flowmaster inserter preferred)
- knowledge of postal preparation requirements
- adjust immediately to changing priorities as determined by management
- strong work ethic — reliable and dependable
- good attention to detail
- ability to follow instructions
- ability to work both individually and on a team
- excellent communication skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- set up Flowmaster inserter
- set up MCS/DPI inkjets
- maintain productivity on machine

- load materials, clear jams, and correct other simple malfunctions as needed
- complete and maintain operator logs including output and productivity
- sort mail in accordance with the USPS Sorting Guide
- maintain good housekeeping in work area
